The 1st Annual International Documentary Challenge
March 22-27, 2006
The IDC is a new timed filmmaking competition where filmmakers from around the globe have just 5 days to make a short non-fiction film. Winning films will screen at a theatrical event presented in association with SILVERDOCS (hosted by AFI Silver Theatre), be released on a DVD, and receive possible television exposure.

CALL FOR ENTRIES: Boston Latino International Film Festival
The Boston Latino International Film Festival (BLIFF), ?Bridging Communities Through Movies,? will screen and award the best of the latest in film and video in the following categories: Feature Film, Documentary and Short Narrative Film. The Festival will be held in Fall 2006, dates to be determined. The BLIFF Selection Committee, representing the diversity of the greater Boston area, will select the films and videos to be screened. The committee will look for innovative works that are by, about, or for the Latino communities in the US or Latino America and Spain and have been produced between the years 2000 and 2006.
The following formats are accepted for submission: DVD and VHS
The following formats are accepted for exhibition: Film ? 35mm, 16mm; Video ? Beta (NTSC) and Digital: DV and Mini DV
All entries will be pre-screened for eligibility by the Selection Committee , however, not all entries will be programmed. If your work is selected, you will be notified to send the film in its original format.
Deadline and entry fees
Early film submission deadline: May 10, 2006
$15 entry fee for each film
Extended film submission deadline: June 1, 2006
$25 entry fee for each film
Films must be postmarked by the submission deadline date. All fees are nonrefundable. Payment must be made by check or money order. Checks and money orders should be made payable in US dollars to: Boston Latino International Film Festival. For those who prefer to pay by credit card, we recommend that you use WithoutaBox.com, the International Film Festival System.
Fee waiver:
The BLIFF will consider waiving the submission fee for qualified filmmakers. To apply, please send an email to jbarriga@bliff.org explaining the reason for your waiver request.
To enter your film, please submit each of the following:
--COMPLETED Entry Form
--Two (2) DVD or VHS (NTSC) video copies of your film
--Brief synopsis (40 words) in English or Spanish. Any synopsis in Spanish should also have an English translation.
--Still photos (300 dpi if submitted electronically should be sent to photo@bliff.org)
--Entry Fee
Due to the large number of submissions, the Festival cannot return any submission materials (VHS tapes, DVD?s, CD?s, press kits, etc.) that are submitted with your entry form.

The shipping cost of any exhibition film, video, and/or promotional material to the Festival is the sole responsibility of the owner/distributor. Squaw Valley Community of Writers Screenwriting
Program: August 5 to August 12, 2006
The Screenwriting Program is an intensive week-long program which focuses on individual attention and work-in-progress, by award-winning writers and writer/directors. Film clips, lectures and writing exercises are incorporated into daily, morning workshops, emphasizing the grammar of film, story development, narrative point of view, character analysis and scene structure. This unique program is designed for screenwriters and filmmakers, as well as fiction writers and playwrights who wish to translate their work into the film medium.
Space is limited to 25 participants. Tuition is $700.00, which includes 6 evening meals; financial aid is available. Admissions are based on submissions. DEADLINE: May 10.
These workshops are made possible with a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the LEF Foundation, The Chris Holter-Ron Merk Family Fund administered by Metro Theater Center Foundation, and the Academy Foundation of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

2006 Ford Motor Company CHLI Leadership Program
Eight college students will be selected to participate in the 2006 Ford Motor Company CHLI Leadership program. Participants will travel to Washington , D.C. to take part in a six-week internship program consisting of professional leadership development workshops while learning about local and state government, federal government, national advocacy organizations, and policy development. Interns will have the opportunity to interact with appointed and elected officials, as well as other community members and leaders from across the country.
To apply, applicants must:
--Be U.S. citizens or Legal Permanent Residents of Hispanic or Portuguese Origin.
--Be residents of and/or attending college in the following states: California , Florida , Texas or Puerto Rico .
--Be enrolled in an accredited four year college/university or two year community college.
--Submit a completed application form, personal statement, legislative analysis, resume, two letters of recommendation and official transcripts.

End date: July 29, 2006
Compensation:
Air fare and housing accommodations during Washington , D.C. stay.

ANTHONY E. ZUIKER, CREATOR, WRITER & EXECUTIVE PRODUCER OF CSI : Crime Scene Investigation & Founder of The Mammoth CSI Franchise, will be the guest speaker at the next monthly Hollywood Networking Breakfast®. Few have experienced the overnight success that Anthony E. Zuiker has encountered in Hollywood . Just seven years ago, the aspiring writer worked as a tram driver at Las Vegas ’ Mirage Hotel!
Zuiker, creator of the hit television series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, now enjoys the distinction of having what is arguably the most successful television franchise in history. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Productions, Zuiker serves as Executive Producer of CSI and writes numerous episodes each season. He also executive produces CSI: Miami and serves as the show runner and Executive Producer for CSI: New York .
Zuiker’s credits as a screenwriter include The Runner, starring Ron Eldard, Courteney Cox, John Goodman and Joe Mantegna, Wanna-Be, which Bobby Newmyer’s Outlaw Productions will produce for Intermedia Films. Zuiker was hand picked by Leonardo DiCaprio, who was once attached to star in the film, to write the screenplay. He is currently rewriting The Harlem Globetrotters Story for Columbia Pictures with Davis Entertainment producing. Penny Marshall is currently attached to direct the project.

CINEMA ARTS TECH, is a vocation film school teaching the skills necessary to get work in the film industry.
