ClickFlicks.net, the premiere online destination for the exhibition and distribution of independent film and television content, to go live January 16 th 2006

New York , NY January 13th, 2006 . Offering the best in independent film and television content, ClickFlicks.net goes live on January 16 th, 2006 . Unlike competitors such as iFilm and Atom Films, ClickFlicks.net is dedicated to the true independents, those who have mastered the art of “doing whatever it takes” to get their projects made. Powered by a proprietary database application environment, ClickFlicks.net is able to serve content quickly and reliably to millions of visitors simultaneously.

In an age when investment money is nearly impossible to come by, the independent often gets the short end of the stick and is forced to beg, borrow and steal for production funds. Even if the film is successfully funded and completed, the independent immediately faces an uphill battle towards securing exhibition and distribution deals.

ClickFlicks.net addresses the plight of the independent by providing an effective exhibition and distribution environment that features only independently produced content. Complete with online festivals, 24/7 screenings, trailers and a target audience of millions per month, ClickFlicks.net truly has everything the independent needs to find success in the world of entertainment.

About ClickFlicks.net

A marketer and distributor of digital entertainment, ClickFlicks.net offers content across many categories –feature length film, short film, animation, music video, television drama, and more. The mission of ClickFlicks.net is to provide a world-class environment through which independent filmmakers can exhibit their work to audiences worldwide and to build and maintain the most effective and widespread digital distribution network through which audiences can enjoy the absolute best in independent film content.

ClickFlicks.net is powered by a state-of-the-art, proprietary database application environment which seamlessly handles all aspects of its digital film offering, to include subscriptions, billing, digital submissions, voting and user ratings, advertising, affiliate programs, message boards, and email list management. With this application environment, ClickFlicks.net is able to serve content quickly and reliably to millions of visitors simultaneously while effectively handling the streaming of very large files.

ClickFlicks.net has developed strategic partnerships with media companies, telecom companies, internet service providers, computer manufacturers and consumer electronics companies, both in the U.S. and internationally, to create a global distribution network for its films. ClickFlicks.net plans to localize its service offering to selected foreign markets in Year 2. These markets include Spain , Italy , France , Germany , Switzerland , The Netherlands, Japan , Mexico , Brazil and Argentina .

Cutting out the middle man
Glendale resident Bryan Duran hoping his new website pango.biz takes off with creative types.

By Vince Lovato

(Published: January 15, 2006 )

The creator of pango.biz hopes it will become the eBay for independent filmmakers, authors and musicians.

Glendale resident Bryan Duran launched pango.biz -- a site where independent artists sell their books, films or CDs without going through a distributor, publisher or studio -- on Jan. 1.

"There's something missing," said Duran, a USC graduate who has worked for major Hollywood studios such as 20th Century Fox, Universal, and Warner Bros. "Independent artists have to go through a gatekeeper so there's something between the artist and the consumer in the American film market." Studios, publishers and music labels spend millions to produce, distribute and market their products so they can't take chances with unknown artists or taboo subjects, Duran said.

"[At Pango] there is no one trying to impose their taste on the public," Duran said. "The buyer gets to say what they want to hear, watch, see or read." Without that open marketplace, independent artists have been left with trying to win contests or film festivals to earn some recognition while often languishing financially, Duran said.

"Through this [site] the filmmaker gets the biggest rewards possible," he said. "If they sell a CD, DVD or book through a major distributor they will get hit with distribution fees, marketing fees and interest. Here, if you sell a DVD for $20 you are going to get the 20 bucks. "Right now the website is free to all users. But as the number of users grow ... I will look in to a fee-based or advertising supported [site] kind of like eBay." Brothers John and Kieron Estrada want to fill a niche for nontraditional Latino-based films with productions like their own "Space Banda," a "Spaceballs" takeoff with Latino characters.

"It is absolutely frustrating," said John Estrada. "The people we are talking to all agree that the Latino marketplace is untapped and the potential is huge and here we are with a different take on the types of movies that have never been done before but they won't take the chance."

The website, coupled with the interest in other artists to drive traffic to the site, will help everyone, Estrada said.

"There is no outlet for short independent movies ... except for selling it out of your trunk," Estrada said. "But we can drive hits to the Pango website, network with other artists and make our own publicity and devise ways to get the word out that this movie is available with creative people who are in the same boat we are."

NOTE FROM EDITOR: Jeff Gund, an old pal of mine, has been uniquely helpful to this Newsletter and all NALIPsters, so if anyone is in position to help him this time, please do and let me know you are doing, since I will consider it also as personal favor to me.

NALIPsters:

As you all know, I’ve been happily providing information on jobs, opportunities, events, parties, etc. for quite some time, and only rarely ask for anything in return...

Well, just a quick little favor or two, if any of you out there are able:

As usual, I’ll be up at the Sundance Film Festival this year, whooping it up, and making even more contacts for opportunities for the Info List.  There are a couple events I’m not on the list for yet (or don’t have tickets for), so if anyone can be of assistance, that would be greatly appreciated!

I still need tickets for the Opening Night Reception, and Opening Night and Closing Night Gala events,   If anyone has purchased a pass, but won’t be around for those parties – I would of course greatly appreciate the tickets!

And, I still don’t have confirmation to be on the list for:

Motorola Late Night Lounge
Daily Variety Party
Sprint Party
UTA/Amazon.com party

So if anyone can help with those and get me on the list – hopefully me +1 (or more if not a problem – I’ll be up there with some heavyweights!), it would be greatly appreciated!

Please email me at jeffsviplist@mindspring.com with any info, including your contact phone number - Thanks in advance for any help you’re able to offer!  I’ll of course reciprocate with any parties I’m on the list for and able to get you into...

And if you’ll be up at the festival, email me with your cell number so we can meet up!
