The International Documentary Film Festival of Amsterdam has granted Red Creek Productions the Jan Vrijman Script and Project Development Award.
The grant was awarded to the documentary United Colors.
United Colors will be directed by Pablo Doudchitzky, and produced by NALIP member / Latino Writers Lab Fellow, Nicolás Entel, and his Red Creek partner Ivan Entel.
“This reflects the strength of our feature film slate. We are working hard in order to put together some great Latin American and US Latino themed projects”- commented Nicolas Entel.
United Colors documents how the Benetton Group, the world-class conglomerate that packaged tolerance along with colorful sweaters, effectively wiped an entire aboriginal tribe from Patagonia in order to make room for sheep in the name of cost-efficiency.
Director Pablo Doudchitzky envisions United Colors as a creative documentary that will juxtapose the iconography developed by the world-class conglomerate with the real-life consequences of capitalism gone awry.
United Colors is scheduled to start shooting in Patagonia in September 2005.
Red Creek is also currently completing the documentary Orquesta Típica, as well as developing the fiction feature La Difunta, which was accepted at the next Sundance Independence Producer’s Conference.

Director/Writer/Editor: ALEX FERRARI
Color / DV, 19:30 minutes, 2005 / English
A gun blast, a flash of light, and a young woman awakens to the comfort of her own bed. Bonnie Clayton has it all, a great relationship, a challenging career, and the burden of a dream that grows more vivid and disturbing with each passing night. But when Bonnie is abducted by a sadistic stranger and his colorful entourage, she discovers that the key to her survival lies within the familiar realms of her recurring dream.
THE KRUTCH / LA MULETA
Director/Writer: JUDITH ESCALONA
B&W / 16mm & DV, 29 minutes, 2005 / English, Spanish and German with Spanish Subtitles
"The Krutch" is a surreal narrative about a Puerto Rican psychoanalyst with a long-suppressed identity problem that erupts with some dire consequences. The film is unique in exploring the
mental anguish and shame associated with racism. Stylistically akin to Buñuel with an eye towards Godard, it occupies an absurdist space that keeps it from descending into the maudlin clichés of realism. With Jaime Sánchez as the mysterious Dr.Gúzman and Cathy Haase as his unsuspecting patient Mrs. Kleist.

NALIPsters:
We're headed to New York City ! Hopefully. As you may know, my solo show ‘ You Wanna Piece of Me?’ has been accepted to the New York International Fringe Festival where we expect to perform in August. I am writing to ask for your financial help. And I've made it REALLY EASY for you to donate through Pay Pal. Just click on the link below!
FringeNYC is a very important, premiere showcase for emerging talent, from which many shows have gone on to a larger life. This funding will help take the show to the next level. The exposure alone will be incredible and we are very close to our overall goal.
Any and all donation amounts are appreciated and tax deductible.
I wouldn't be asking for your help if I didn't believe in this project so strongly. It is the most personal work I have ever developed for the stage. At a series of performances at the Electric Lodge in Venice, California last year and this year at the San Francisco Hip-Hop Theater Festival, we saw the power this show possessed to make audiences laugh uncontrollably and at the same time help them reflect on their own lives. I can't ask for anything more as an artist. And now I have a chance to bring it to NYC.
If you want to help, please click on the link below and you will be directed to Pay Pal immediately.

Nuestro Exito explores topics such as culture, education, the preservation of the environment, health and sports. The program segments are supplemented with interesting facts and testimonials. But more importantly, Nuestro Exito introduces organizations such as La Casa De La Raza (Casa Cultural), UCSB, The Santa Barbara Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, LAMAC ( Santa Barbara Latino Media Arts Center ) and Story Teller Children’s Center. Recognized Latino community leaders such as Luis Villegas, Dr. Maria Herrera-Zobek, Pedro Nava, Dr. Luis Leal, Raquel Lopez, and Ana Elisa Fuentes and provide insights about how the Santa Barbara community is changing and how Latinos are directly influencing it in a positive way.

The project is a 12-minute TV magazine piece about embryo adoption and how the Christian right is encouraging infertile couples to adopt embryos to save them from other fates...I'll be shooting it on PAL DVCAM, a NY-based reporter will be reporting it, and we're doing it for Swiss television.

NALIPsters,
Hello. My name is Brigitte Valentine. I am producing a student film and I am looking for an editor for the first week of August. The video will be shot on HD-pro format and will be shown on the VERIZON website in September (We won a competition!). This is a great opportunity to gain exposure for yourself and a great opening to work for a multicultural team. For example: the main actress is coming in from Spain ! the director is Latin American! and I am French/Portuguese!
Please e-mail me ASAP at BGPspirit@aol.com if you are interested or know of anyone.
