Actor/Director and NALIP Member MIKE GOMEZ guest stars in two upcoming movies-of-the-week, 'LOCUSTS' for the CBS Network, and 'THE READING ROOM' for the Hallmark Channel.
'LOCUSTS', starring Lucy Lawless and John Heard, and directed by David Jackson, is an epic disaster story set in modern day, which pits the United States against two gigantic swarms of locusts which threaten the U. S. populace. MIKE GOMEZ guest stars as Secretary of Agriculture NATHAN MORALES, under whose watch the epic disaster unfolds. 'LOCUSTS' is set to air on Sunday, April 24, 2005 at 9 PM on the CBS Network.
MIKE GOMEZ also guest stars 'OFFICER KEELEY' on the Hallmark Movie of the Week, 'THE READING ROOM'. 'THE READING ROOM', stars James Earl Jones, George Stanford Brown, Joanna Cassidy and Douglas Spain and is directed by George Standford Brown. James Earl Jones plays a widower who opens a reading room/library in a low income neighborhood, to honor his dying wife's request. "Films by Youth Inside", a film program created by film maker Alex Munoz that teaches film making to incarcerated youth, is in need of interns to help coordinate production of short films to be made at Probation Camp David Gonzales. Principal photography will begin on April 22. Most of the filming will be done at Camp Gonzales located in Calabasas , CA .
Filming will be done on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. We are in critical need of a production coordinator and an assistant administrator. Interns may receive college credit for their work. We are looking to cast a man ages 40-65 for a role in the short film Wet
Foot, Dry Foot that will be shot starting next week in Miami.
The film is about two Cuban balseros who leave Cuba on a raft and make it to a Florida island. “Wet Foot, Dry Foot” is a about a U.S. Policy by the same name that accepts refugees once they have made it on land (Dry Foot) but sends them back to Cuba if they are found in the the Water (Wet Foot). The dramatic story is about how two balseros, Ivan and Ramiro almost make it to the shore but get caught by U.S. Coast Guards as they are trying to save the life of a man they discover on another boat who has just had a stroke.
