Dear Friends:
I am in the middle of my director's cut of "Palmarejo: My Backyard Was A Mountain." I have to say that, by far, this is one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. The footage looks amazing, and I am incredibly proud of the way the film is turning out. I want to thank all of you who supported the film financially and in spirit. Although it will not be finished for a while because of the extensive post-production process, I will let each and every one of you know when the premiere is.
On another note, Esquire Magazine just picked me as a finalist in their Celluloid Style Film Competition. Among hundreds of applicants, they selected me as one of their top five new filmmakers. I will now be shooting an additional short film, adapting an article from the magazine, in late-April/early-May. The panel of judges, from A-list Hollywood actors to industry producers and agents, will select a winner. Your continued support is always welcome and embraced. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
--Adam
P.S. "Palmarejo" also just won a huge grant from the government. We will be finishing on 35mm film!

Synopsis:
For over 10 years the bodies of women have been appearing in the desert just outside the border city of Ciudad Juarez in Mexico . Many of the women share similar traits and worked for local factories known as ‘maquiladoras’, a large number owned by American corporations. The murders remain unsolved. Inspired by these events, the protagonist Juana Canales is a Mexican-American filmmaker documenting the murders. She interviews family members, government officials, the police, and the accused killer himself, Ali Obani. A chorus of women guide and question Juana’s motives while the shadow of a horned man and a wandering woman steer her in different directions. Juana pursues the truth fervently only to be confronted with fear, lies, and silence. This production is in English and was commissioned by East LA Rep from resident playwright Roxanna E. Sanchez.

On the surface is where Rey Parla works to make his movies by hand, based on his physical, immediate response to the scratched/painted layers of his marks on that film. His haptic approach is flexible: it explores the physical character of its objects as objects, not as symbolic representations. This is a distinctly non-verbal approach to making movies. It does away with language in order to document a more immediate, direct encounter with the movie: the many tiny pictures that are the film itself.

The dramatic story is about how two balseros, Ivan and Ramiro almost make it to the shore but get caught by U.S. Coast Guards trying to save the life of a man they discover on another boat who has just had a stroke.
I am looking to cast the roles of Ivan and Ramiro, both in their 30’s by this week in Miami .
Please contact Trina Bardusco at trina@latinomediaworks.com 347-837-1542 ASAP if you are interested in auditioning.
