Seagle.  Winner of the 2003 award for "Best Play" from the American Readers Theater Association. N*GGER WETB*CK CH*NK is an explosive comedy that charges into the dangerous territory of race, but without the predictable anger and angst. Through a special arrangement, NALIP Members can attend the Friday, May 7th performance of the brilliant new production developed in conjunction with Jose Luis Valenzuela, the Latino Theatre Company and Speak Theatre Arts for the ridiculously low price of $10 per person. The show, which the LA Times describes as a “cult phenomenon... reminiscent of early Culture Clash or the comedy of Chris Rock is… drawing critical raves. New Production Funding Initiative from CPB
CHICAGO PRE-PROPOSAL CONFERENCE: Tuesday, May 11, 2004

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has launched a new multi-million dollar programming initiative. America at a Crossroads represents a major effort by CPB to fulfill its mandate to promote programs that inform, enlighten, and enrich the public dialogue about crucial public affairs issues, and enhance the knowledge and citizenship of all Americans. This initiative focuses on the post-9/11 world and how it has affected the American imagination as well as our political, economic, cultural and social realities, our security and our relationship with other nations. The RFP is available at http://www.cpb.org/tv/funding/crossroads/.

To better answer questions about the initiative, we are conducting a pre-proposal conference. CPB staff will be on hand, and there will be a panel of experts to discuss some of the major themes that might make for good productions. There will be ample time for questions and a small reception will follow the meeting. The details are below:
