As the producer of "Robbing Peter" - honored with
the Best Feature by Jury Selection award at the 2004 Nosotros Film
Festival - it is my pleasure to inform you that longtime Nosotros
member Louie Olivos, Jr. has received a nomination for Best Debut
Performance at the 2005 Independent Spirit Awards. Nominations were
announced this morning. "Robbing Peter" received three additional
nominations, including Best Supporting Actress, Best First Screenplay,
and the John Cassavetes Award, which honors the best feature made
for under $500,000.

On January 11th, 2005 TotalAXIS, SAG and NALIP will
join once again for a one-of-a kind event. Three events all wrapped
into one! The evening will start with our second installment of
our Diversity for Dummies Series followed by a one time Shorts FLIX
Fest. This fest will be around an hour long and will include five
(5) of the best shorts made in 2004 for you to start of your year

"Farmingville,” a searing examination of the tensions
surrounding the presence of Mexican day laborers in a small Long
Island town has been named a DIRECTV/IFC Truer Than Fiction finalist.
The award is presented to an emerging director of
nonfiction features who has not yet received significant attention
and includes a $20,000 unrestricted grant, funded by DIRECTV and
IFC (Independent Film Channel). The winner will be announced at
the Independent Spirit Awards ceremony, which will air live on IFC
at 5:00 pm EST, Saturday, February 26, 2005, and is edited for rebroadcast
on Bravo the same evening at 10:000 pm EST/PST, following an exclusive
one-hour red carpet show at 9:00 pm EST/PST.

Filmmaker Launches a new Music Documentary--December

Producer/Director Al Gonzalez, now in final post-production “Viva
El Mariachi” ®
Written by Al Gonzalez & Cate Rachford, the documentary was inspired
by the music of retired mariachis Valentine & Maria Elena Gonzalez.
Special featured guest include: Grand Mariachi Vargas
de Tecalitlan and invited guests, mariachis Zihuatlan, Coculense,
Las Adelitas, Monumental America, Las Divas, Champaña Nevin, Ariiba
Guadalajara, Mi Mexico and 8-year old Maureen. Special featured
interviews include living legends like Heriberto “El Cura” Molina,
Miguel Martinez & Jonathan Clark. Also, Rebecca Gonzales and the
Queen of female mariachis in Los Angeles, Ca, Laura Sobrino amongst
others who share their history of mariachi music.
“Viva El Mariachi” ® is an uplifting music documentary
that explores the history, the instruments, charro outfit and worldwide
cultural acceptance of mariachi music. Once completed, “Viva El
Mariachi” ® will be entered into international film festivals and

a screenplay for a feature film about a mariachi family.

Cubans, symbolized by Veronica, maintain their footing after the

and always interesting.

Rosa Negra is one woman's desperate search for love in Brooklyn's
multicultural scene of aspiring artists, dancers and Santero priests.
It is a series that uses the florid language, effusive close-ups,
longing fades, and dramatic music of traditional telenovelas to
tell a modern story of Rosa and the gay, straight, transgendered,
and intertwined group of friends and lovers that surround her. This
is the first episode in an independent guerilla TV series.
FEATURE Desi's Looking for a New Girl

Latina lesbians for a delightful and emotional roller coaster ride
through the world of dating that is fun, intelligent and often painfully

Oaxacan Hoops explores how basketball, one of the most revered sports
in the United States, has helped many indigenous Zapotecs living
in Los Angeles to keep traditions alive, build community, and maintain

for a twisted, comedic narrative that pays tribute to silent films.
Forgotten Voices

Forgotten Voices is a fictitious story of a mulatta cabaret singer,
in late 1930's Mexico, Amara Ines. A French cabaret owner from Paris
discovers her and gives her the opportunity to perform her act in
Europe. During this time WWII breaks out and Amara Ines is abandoned
in the brutal world of the holocaust.

Six-year-old Jayson's parents are lost in their continual struggle
to live the daily battle that is life and have lost sight of the
damage it is inflicting upon him. The resulting violence becomes
the final straw that motivates Jayson's mother, Emma, to take action

Shade of Atonement is a character study about the need to find closure
