Tribeca All Access (TAA) serves artists and audiences by supporting diverse voices in film and theater in the United States. Its programs are designed primarily to provide artists of color with unmatched access to members of the entertainment industry.

 

TAA CONNECTS CALL FOR ENTRIES

Following the success of its inaugural year, TAA Connects returns April 25 - 28, 2005. TAA Connects is a networking and meetings program that brings narrative & documentary directors and screenwriters of color together with film industry decision-makers during the Tribeca Film Festival. Filmmakers who identify as African American, Asian American, Latino/a, Pacific Islander or Native American are welcome to submit scripts or documentary proposals for consideration. TotalAXIS TEAMS UP WITH The Screen Actors Guild FOR EVENTS FOCUSING ON DIVERSITY IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY

 

TotalAXIS, the fastest growing networking alliance for artists of all backgrounds will team with the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) to host high-profiled events aimed at creating new opportunities for women and minorities in the entertainment industry. “Women in Hollywood – Part 4”, presented by TotalAXIS and SAG, will take place on Thursday, November 11, 2004 at the Garden of Eden (7080 Hollywood Boulevard, LA, CA 90028). Cocktails begin at 7:00 PM with the panel session starting at 7:30 PM and a networking session following at 9:00 PM.

 

This is the fourth installment of the popular “Women in Hollywood” panel and networking series, focusing on increasing the opportunities for women in the entertainment industry. We invite you to meet industry insiders!

TODAY: AFI FEST 2004 OPENS w/ Kevin Spacey BIOPIC BEYOND THE SEA

 

Los Angeles' longest-running film festival opens tonight November 4, 2004, with the US Premiere of BEYOND THE SEA, directed by and starring Kevin Spacey. The Centerpiece Gala will be THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, directed by Michael Radford. The Festival's Closing Night Gala on November 14, 2004, will be the US Premiere of THE SEA INSIDE, directed by Alejandro Amenábar. The other Gala Presentations are HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS, directed by Zhang Yimou, and the North American Premiere of A VERY LONG ENGAGEMENT, directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet.

 

AFI FEST 2004 also announced a Tribute and Retrospective of Academy Award®-winning and internationally acclaimed filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar. As part of the Tribute, AFI FEST 2004 will include a Gala Presentation of BAD EDUCATION.

 

THE FESTIVAL

Now in it's 18th year as a program of the American Film Institute, AFI FEST spans 10 days each November, featuring international competitions of brand new films from emerging filmmakers, global showcases of the latest work from the great film masters and nightly red-carpet gala premieres. AFI FEST annually presents an international competition of features, documentaries and shorts as well as ambitious global cinema showcases, including Asian New Classics, European Film Showcase, Latin Cinema Series and American Directions.

 

Also returning are the popular Made in Germany series and the Filmmaker Tribute and Retrospective. Films such as MONSTER; HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG; OSAMA; TALK TO HER; CITY OF GOD; DARK WATER; NOWHERE IN AFRICA; THE QUIET AMERICAN; NO MAN'S LAND; MONSTER'S BALL; LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL; THE CIDER HOUSE RULES; BEFORE NIGHT FALLS; O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU? and AMORES PERROS have all premiered at AFI FEST.

RODRIGUEZ FACES 'HARSH TIMES'

November 4, 2004
Freddy Rodriguez will star in the independent film 'Harsh Times,' says Production Weekly. The film is described as a West Coast version of Martin Scorsese's Mean Streets, set in South Central Los Angeles. David Ayer (Training Day) will make his feature directorial debut from his original screenplay, which was developed at the Sundance screenwriter's lab. Hayek & Cruz Team Up In 'BandidaS'

Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz, two of the most beautiful and acclaimed young actresses on the film screen today, team up for a wild adventurous romp through the Old West in Bandidas. Strike Entertainment in association with Beacon Communications LLC has announced the start of active development for Alfonso Cuaron’s next project Children of Men, the sci-fi thriller based on the novel by P.D James is about the near future, when human sperm count has dropped to zero and humanity has lost its future, a middle-aged Oxford history professor's encounter with a group of dissidents triggers a series of events that will change the world. Paul Chart wrote the screenplay. PRINZE STAYING WITH TV

After a recent guest stint on Boston Legal, Freddie Prinze Jr. looks to be returning to the small screen in a more permanent capacity, as the Scooby-Doo actor has signed with Warner Bros. TV to develop a half-hour sitcom.
