Nomination Deadline is Nov. 12!!!

Dear NALIP Member:

It is time once again to elect a new slate of Board of Directors for NALIP National. As vested members of NALIP, this is your opportunity to make a difference in how your organization is run in the next three years.  We need your energy, your enthusiasm and your ideas to help NALIP better serve the needs of the Latino media-making community.

Our goal is to present a slate of nominees for the December 2004 election.  We seek recommendations of candidates who will have a marked impact on NALIP’s ability to increase our visibility on a national level, increase our fundraising capacity either directly or through contacts, help maintain our National initiatives and inform the creation of new ones that benefit our membership, and who can become active participants in the programs, committees, and events that NALIP presents, particularly our Signature Programs.

You are invited to nominate candidates for a 3-year term to the NALIP Board of Directors. You may nominate yourself.  You may nominate another.  Just follow the guidelines below.  A few things to consider before you proceed. First know that:

Prospective candidates shall be at least eighteen years of age, be a vested NALIP member paid in full, and have residency or place of employment in the United States.

Each Director shall serve for a term of three (3) years to a maximum of two (2) terms.

4 Board Members come up for re-election each year, and all 4 current Board members with expiring terms will run again. However, we can increase the Board to 15 and are considering an expansion for 2005.

Each Board Member is responsible for participating actively in the management of the Corporation.  This includes:

     A. The hiring, support and evaluation of the Executive Director on an annual basis;

     B. Approving policies, guidelines and long-range plans;

     C. Enhancing the organization’s public image;

     D. Ensuring the organization’s financial stability and solvency by approving an annual budget and reviewing  financial statements on a regular basis;

     E. Helping to raise money for the organization;

     F. Evaluating the performance of the Board; and

     G. Participation in a leadership capacity in at least one active committee per year, such as advocacy, fundraising, conference, membership and/or program development, among others.

Our full By-Laws and their related amendments, including descriptions of the Board of Directors, its Officers, and their responsibilities, can be found online at: http://www.nalip.org/About/structureGovernance.byLaws.htm
